Other 20 PLATE OFFSET DISC HARROWS 22X5 DISCS-75-80HP 20 Plate H.D. Offset Discs
Description
- Berends GM40 Linkage Offset Discs - Heavy Duty.
- 20 Plate GM40 - 22in x 5mm scallop discs
- This Gibbins Rawlings machine is a heavier duty version of the Berends linkage model. It is ideal for all types of terrain however it is most commonly used in market gardens, orchards and for firebreaks, where the operator wants the strength and weight of a large disc but the versatility and compactness of a linkage model.
- Using solid cast iron disc spools instead of pipe spacer spools almost doubles the weight of the machine. Each spool is individually machined and by providing the weight in the gangs rather than on the frame (or ballast) reduces the load onto the bearings. More weight also means a better penetration in hard ground.
- The spools also have a different diameter at the points where they touch the discs. This means that the disc doesnt have a pinch point where the spool on either side of it touch in the same place. This reduces the stress on this part of the disc when it is under load (during cultivation) compared to machines which run a straight spool between the discs. The main frame and headstock is also much heavier.
- The headstock is supported by two spring loaded pressure screws which help prevent damage in rocky or undulating conditions. Berends use shorter axles on the heavier disc ploughs, which means more bearing support. This may cost more to produce but it provides a stronger set-up in hard going.
- The standard set-up for an offset discs is the front gang running at a 21 angle whilst the rear gang is set at 23. There is an art to setting up a disc, but if you have lateral and full angle adjustment - as these discs have - you are able to set a disc to give a level finish.
- Features:
- Each machine takes approximately 2-3HP per disc to pull, depending on conditions.
- Prong scrapers are also available for heavy clay soil
- Twin spring loaded pressure screws prevent damage in rocky or undulating conditions
- Easy gang angle adjustment
- Fitted with hard wearing European Bellota Boron discs at 9 spacing Available in 22x5mm(or optional 24x5mm sizes)
- Cat 1 & 2 linkage
- 28mm square high tensile axles
- Optional prong scrapers
- Greaseable flanged disc bearings with excellent sealing to exclude contaminants
- Solid cast spools, individually machined, provide all the weight in the gangs rather than in the frame (which can add load onto the bearings.
